Size - You want to try and make your sofa tables as close to the same length as your sofa as you can. Something sticking out past the sofa looks tacky. Something too short may cause people to try to put a drink down only to find out there is no table there. Materials - Consider the materials that have gone into the sofa tables you are considering. You don't want tables that are made of easy to scratch or scar materials as these are going to likely get a lot of use. Décor fit - Just as with the sofas you choose it is important to consider the overall décor style of the room before you select tables to go into this space.
You are of course always welcome to change the positioning around if you find that a certain arrangement isn't working for you. The only problem is that the larger the item the heavier it will be so you want to think hard and make certain you know exactly where you want something to go before you move it.
Wood choices for these pieces may reflect paint colors and window dressings or an owner's desire to match other existing pieces. Decades ago mahogany maple oak and cherry were popular woods and continue to be a staple of furniture design. Bamboo and wicker also make a beautiful addition to modern homes and are popular for sunrooms and outside patios especially if you want to evoke the look and feel of the tropics. Laminates and metal such as wrought iron are also appropriate choices and can be paired with glass or stone to enhance other elements or colors in the room they are in.
