Living rooms cater for many needs. They are for relaxing and socialising listening to music and entertaining. They can also be used for eating and drinking watching TV and playing. Modern living room design tries to cater for the whole range of activities and making the most of the space we have often becomes a top priority when thinking about decorating and furnishing the room. The trend in modern living rooms is for a more open design - you need to look carefully at the quality of natural light in the room and how to supplement it with additional light sources. Wooden furniture with a natural finish is a good choice as it tends to lend a light and airy aspect to the furnishings as well as giving some much-needed warmth and character.
Hues that Function Well Together. So the first thing that you can do with your inspiration painting is choose your color scheme from the colors used in the inspiration piece. As you look at your inspiration painting use the principle hue as your living room's main accent color. Then look at the other hues in the painting so you can select a couple more for your decor. The remaining two hues will be a pale neutral color to paint your walls and then any other color to use as another accent color. Especially if you are not great at combining colors the artist of your inspiration painting has already taken care of that for you so using a piece of art is a perfect way to choose your room's color palette.
Regardless of what style of country you want to achieve in your country living room design there are specific elements that must be present to give it an authentic country touch. Country design can also vary depending on geography that is why the French country look is different from American or English country. History and sentimental appeal is introduced with vintage or vintage-looking pieces from the specific country.
Asian styles can include a variety of colors and textures. For Japanese go for a calm meditative look. Soft blue gray brown or green will complement subtly used hints of brighter colors and flowers were artwork. Chinese style can be achieved using bold colors such as red or gold to accent dark woods. Whatever style you choose pick only one see it through and don't go overboard. If the room is not comfortable it is not livable. Keep your thoughts clear for what the room will be used for. Factor in where the light and space in the room is coming from. Choose one or two choice elements you love rather than cluttering the room with every piece you like.
Open spaces do attract clutter. The more space we have the more we try and fill it often with things that could easily be tidied away if only some storage had been planned for them. Built-in cupboards are a solution here but if your room does not suit this style then think carefully about some other options. Solid oak sideboards or oak cupboards work very well. A natural wood finish helps to keep the living space look open and spacious and their solid construction will resist many knocks. Solid oak and indeed solid pine can be easily looked after - minor scratches and marks are easily sanded away and a light application of oil or wax will bring out the natural warmth and give the furniture a really mellow appeal. Cupboard space like this will give you plenty of room to tidy away toys DVDs and books.
