A living room is a good example. In this space you need places for people to sit. It's a basic requirement of the functions of the room. If people have nowhere to sit then it won't be a very social place. A table can also be added either a coffee table which can dominate the center of the room or smaller side tables where guests can rest a beverage or a bag or simply place their hands when reclining.
Size - You want to try and make your sofa tables as close to the same length as your sofa as you can. Something sticking out past the sofa looks tacky. Something too short may cause people to try to put a drink down only to find out there is no table there. Materials - Consider the materials that have gone into the sofa tables you are considering. You don't want tables that are made of easy to scratch or scar materials as these are going to likely get a lot of use. Décor fit - Just as with the sofas you choose it is important to consider the overall décor style of the room before you select tables to go into this space.
Another consideration is the overall theme of the room that the table and matching chairs should be able to match and enhance. You may have to get the services of a professional interior designer for this just to be sure that you get things right. An important decision is what shape the table should come in being that there are many shapes to choose from. The most popular ones are the ellipse or circular type of boardroom tables but the traditional rectangular shapes are also preferred by many.
